The Hospital Guest House is located in
a grand 1906 plantation style home with four spacious guest bedrooms. All
bedrooms contain two twin beds and typical bedroom furnishings.
Bed and bath linens are provided. All guest share well-maintained bathrooms.
Of course, all guests are asked to be considerate of one another. The guest
bedrooms do not have televisions or telephone, but there is a large
comfortable living room on the first floor (Guest Lounge) with a cable equipped television.
A telephone is available for guests to use at the check in desk. Note: this
is Veterans Affairs (926-1171) extension 2154: not the HGH business line,
926-0233. You are welcome to use this telephone anytime. The resident
manager does not always attend this phone.
There are no kitchen privileges at HGH but there is a small refrigerator and
a microwave oven for you to use. Disposable plates, utensils, napkins and
coffee are provided. Ice is available upon request. The Johnson City Press
arrives about 6:30 each morning.
HGH has a zero tolerance policy prohibiting smoking inside the House:
violators will be immediately evicted. Persons under the
influence of nonprescription drugs including alcohol will not be allowed to
remain on HGH premises. Pets are not allowed. House rules are posted and
enforced.
The Hospital Guest House is a safe place. It is on federal property with
limited access and is routinely patrolled by the Veterans Affairs Police
Service. You will be issued a key to secure your room, but you are
encouraged to store your valuables elsewhere. The resident manager is
present between about 4:00 pm and 8:00 am, and can be reached by calling the HGH business number, 926-0233.
