The Hospital Guest House of Southern Appalachia (HGH) opened its doors on the grounds of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in 1986 and provides low cost lodging to those who have a patient in any local medical facility. Compassionate volunteers contribute their time and effort to provide this service to those who are away from home and in a stressful situation. The resident manager receives new guests each day between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on a first come first serve basis. Therefore early check-in is encouraged. There is no curfew at HGH and check out time is 2:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to stay as long as necessary. However, if you have not paid in advance, or confirmed your intentions to stay additional nights by 4:00 p.m. you risk forfeiting your accommodations. Guests must be at least 12 years old. An adult must attend minors at all times.
